Do miracles still exist today? Was a miracle only seen because Jesus performed it? Is a miracle something that I can believe will happen in my life? How do I know I can pray for a miracle and actually receive one?
All these questions, and more, are a constant in the christian faith. When you read the bible and begin to study the Word of the Lord, you very quickly realise that the miraculous is what frames our faith.
A miracle is defined as an extraordinary event – something so rare and unique that it doesn’t happen every day, it also comes from a divine source that has a purpose to change or alter the events in our life.

Overcoming fear releases the miracle
So often when we are faced with a crisis we come under the stronghold of fear and hopelessness.
The gravity of what you are facing becomes too overwhelming.
We have 2 options
1- we can look at the fear of the situation and begin to unravel with defeated thoughts – which by the way, Satan is creating over you
OR
2- you can stare at fear, but you can’t allow yourself to camp there! You can’t allow yourself for one minute to spiral down the tunnel of defeat – because coming back up requires a strength you do not have at that time!
The minute we stay camped in fear, is the minute our faith is sabotaged and the miracle becomes concealed
Our personal testimony of a miracle
We’ve seen many unexplained, supernatural events happen right before our eyes. Recently our son was at youth group doing what teenage boys do, living life to its fullest. While running with his friends, he fell and badly injured his leg. We were very concerned because 6 years prior, ON THE EXACT SAME DAY, he badly broke his leg and was in a full leg cast for over 6 weeks. Immediately we thought it was the same brake. We went to the ER – they did a CT SCAN. The doctors determined that he had an
‘Avulsion FRACTURE ALONG THE LATERAL FEMORAL CONDYLTE AND LATERAL TIBIAL PLATEAU.”
THIS IS NOT GOOD! This means a 6 month – 9 month is a full leg brace! no more sports, no more running around – this was shaping up to be a huge hurdle for him!
We were then sent to an Orthopedic Specialist who looked at the reports and said – “What I’m seeing is in fact a SÉGONE FRACTURE – A TORN ACL. You’ll need to go have an MRI so we know to what extent it is torn.”
We went home and were shocked, stressed, and in disbelief.
Not only were we looking at a torn ACL – we were now looking at a 9-month recovery and a $25,000+ surgery at best.
For the next 24hrs my thoughts were consumed with:
- How can this be?
- God how can we preach your word, believe in what it says yet something like this happens?
- EVERYTHING we do in life is based on what the bible says. We have given up everything to follow what the bible says!
- It’s not just a set of ideologies and theologies for us, We don’t just ‘do church’ – WE BELIVE IN THE POWER of JESUS CHRIST and we want others to know there is power in this WORD. EVERYTHING it says is ALIVE
There was no way that was going to be our outcome.
Jesus said “When two or more pray I am there with them!”
We gathered around his bed the night before the MRI and prayed over his leg.
- We declared that the tear would fuse back together
- We declared all ligaments, bones, and muscles would return to their original God-given design
- We declared that there would be no surgery needed
- We commanded his leg to come back into the agreement of the WORD OF THE LORD that says he is healed.
- God your word says that you are our Provider, it says you are our healer.
- We need your miraculous power to take care of this situation.
- We refuse to go backwards into financial debt
- We rebuke the diagnosis and declare that the MRI will be clear and show a miracle!
- All fear and anxiety be LOOSED! Holy Spirit release peace over our minds
The next day we went to get fresh images from the MRI. As we were in there, the imaging practitioner said “what is it that you are in here for again?” Brent said “an ACL tear”, to which she replies “hmmmm…”
In other words, what your in here for and what I’m seeing are two different things.
The results came back – Our Orthopedic Specialist read the results of the MRI and said,
“It’s strange – there is no ACL on the images – everything is in place and the knee cap has returned!” She said, “I want my director to do a second view, because I just want to be sure at what I’m seeing”
That’s code for… it’s not making sense!
Long story short – No Break, No ACL tear, No surgery, no financial wipeout,
What was the biggest shock?
I have actually been shocked at the responses of ‘Christians’. Many would say “How’s Jeremiah’s leg? Have you got the results yet? “I’d say “YES – an absolute miracle!”. Many have said – How could a CAT SCAN AND MRI have been so wrong!
- How could a CT SCAN AND MRI have been so wrong!
- How could the ER doctors and the Orthopedic specialist get it wrong!
They didn’t get it wrong! They only conveyed what they saw, God simply did the miraculous!
GOD DID A MIRACLE!
Your faith will set you free
The world has become so desensitised to the miraculous hand of God. People look at me like I’m a little weird believing that God did a miracle. I don’t flinch or falter in my response – God SIMPLY PERFORMED A MIRACLE.
We can’t take the bible – pick and choose what we want to believe it says. It wasn’t incompetency on the medical professions behalf – they read what they are trained to see.
Our faith needs us to believe once again in the miraculous hand of God. Why believe in something that doesn’t produce results?
Whatever it is – I KNOW the miracle working power of God is REAL and is still ALIVE TODAY!
Maybe your facing a HUGE mountain in your life and you need a miracle. Maybe it’s the removal of a tumour, maybe it’s to fall pregnant despite all odds of being able too or maybe it’s a desperate need for financial provision.
I have personally witnessed everyone of theses circumstances and hundreds more, turn around and God performing a miracle. It may be the lifting off depression and suicidal thoughts, It may be the reversal of a health condition, It may be the shifting into a new season, whatever it is, don’t lose hope. The bible also says that “hope differed makes the heart sick”. In other words, our mind, our emotions, our flesh all take a hit when we loose hope.
Our faith needs us to believe once again in the miraculous hand of God. Why believe in something that doesn’t produce results?
I challenge us today, to step INTO the realm of the Kingdom of God.
If you’ve never experienced it – have never seen a miracle, have never felt the presence of God, have never seen angels or supernatural signs, I pray your eyes are open to see today.
The word says in Matthew 7:7
ASK AND YOU WILL RECEIVE SEEK ME AND YOU WILL FIND ME KNOCK AND THE DOOR WILL BE OPENED TO YOU
